BLACKPINK member Jennie has once again collaborated with British pop goddess Dua Lipa to bring a new single “Handlebars” full of charm and rhythm. This song is included in Jennie's first solo album “Ruby”. The two teamed up to use music to describe the madness and charm in love, showing their deep tacit understanding and music creation skills.
The song “Handlebars” was co-written by Dua Lipa, together with Amy Allen, James Alan Ghaleb, Rob Bisel and Delacey, and explores the fragility and storm-like emotional fluctuations in love. The overall melody is full of playful rhythm and charming atmosphere, perfectly balanced sensibility and rhythm. In terms of MV, led by creative director group BRTHR, the music video of “Handlebars” leads the audience into a surreal world with color kaleidoscopes and fantasy. The video opens with Jennie lying on a circular bed, surrounded by multiple TV screens playing images, creating a strong sense of futuristic technology. Then, she traveled through the alley in the rain, and with a blink of an eye, the rain stopped instantly, and the picture was full of magical tension. What is most impressive is that Jennie and Dua Lipa are lying on a shining heart-shaped spider web, symbolizing the deep connection of lingering love, and the picture is both bold and imaginative.
This is not the first time that Jennie and Dua Lipa have worked together. Back in 2017, the two showed impeccable chemistry on BLACKPINK's hit single “Kiss and Make Up”. Now, “Handlebars” further deepens their cooperation, using the dual interpretation of music and vision to prove the musical appeal of the two across languages and regions.
Jennie's new album “Ruby” has now been launched on major platforms.
