At Paris Fashion Week 2025, Duran Lantink presents its latest “Duranimal” series in a very topical way, bringing an avant-garde fashion show that combines animal patterns, deconstructed design and futuristic sense. The designer from Amsterdam and Paris won the Karl Lagerfeld Prize last year, and this season shows a bolder fashion experiment through his show of the same name.
As the name suggests, the “Duranimal” series revolves around animal elements, presenting rich bold prints and splicing of different materials. From zebra-patterned horse-haired jackets, re-tailed snakeskin pieces to velvet leopard designs, Duran Lantink fully demonstrates his grasp of the deconstruction and reorganization of high-end fashion. In addition, he also uses the cowhide of LVMH discarded fabric suppliers to implement the concept of sustainable fashion.
However, the show is not limited to animal patterns, Lantink also incorporates camouflage and Scottish plaid into the collection to create an unexpected combination. These elements extend to the first collaboration between the brand and Italian shoe brand Sergio Rossi, to tailor exclusive shoes for the stand. At the same time, this season is also his first cooperation with Paris production company Bureau Betak, which is located in the brand’s new office that is about to be relocated, directly integrating the office environment into the fashion show concept, and models shuttle between the desk and the compartment to create a unique show atmosphere.
Duran Lantink continues his style of challenging aesthetics this season, with strong drama from printing, tailoring to prosthetic body parts. “I'm fully able to control what's called “bad taste.” This season, he no longer focuses on his past bubble look, but instead explores the concept of “shape as a Style” through more converging lines.
It is worth mentioning that two hand-woven merino wool dresses come from a team of female Dutch craftsmen, shaping dramatic outlines in a staggered and entangled way to further enhance the artistic sense of the series. This season's design also features a playful tribute from American culture, combining “Wild West” with “futuristic sense”, such as creative nude jeans and prosthetic decorations that look like moving figures, exaggerating the emphasis on body lines and transforming clothing into a symbol of power.
Duran Lantink stressed: “I love to portray women as heroes like action dolls. I think everyone should have freedom and build their own identity without any restrictions.” In this show, he not only showed bold nudity, but conveyed a kind of heroism through clothing design, allowing women to find their own strength in fashion.
