Gucci and Kering Group jointly announced that Demna will officially take over as Gucci artistic director in early July 2025.
Demna has been at the helm of Balenciaga since 2015, redefining modern luxury fashion with disruptive designs, gaining wide recognition worldwide and establishing its leadership in the fashion industry.
“Demna has made great contributions to Balenciaga and the entire group, and his creative energy is what Gucci needs most at the moment. While thanking him for his achievements over the past decade, I look forward to him bringing new artistic directions to Gucci.”
Francesca Bellettini, Deputy CEO of Kering Group, further added: “Demna's keen insight into contemporary culture, combined with her rich creative experience, has made him one of the most influential designers of this generation. His participation will be a catalyst for Gucci's creative energy and bring a new round of vitality and success to the brand. I look forward to him joining hands with Stefano (Gucci CEO) to lead the brand into a new era.”
“I have always admired Demna's unique and powerful creative approach. It is particularly rare for him to incorporate modern aesthetics while paying tribute to the brand's classic heritage. Gucci has laid a solid foundation and I believe Demna will lead the brand to re-establish its fashion authority and continue to exert its influence on the cultural level.”
Demna also expressed her expectations for this appointment: “It is an honor for me to join the Gucci family. I have always respected and appreciated this brand deeply, and I am very happy to work with Stefano and the team to write a new chapter in Gucci.”
