A$AP Rocky's shooting is convicted of “innocence”

Rapper A$AP Rocky was found guilty of being accused of shooting a friend after trial. He expressed his gratitude to the jury when he left the court: “Thank you for saving my life, thank you for making the right decision.” The verdict successfully lifted him off two felony charges of semi-automatic gun assault, avoiding decades of jail.

After hearing the verdict, A$AP Rocky immediately rushed to the auditorium and hugged his girlfriend Rihanna and family and friends tightly. If he fails to be acquitted, he will face a sentence of up to 24 years. On the eve of the trial, the prosecution proposed a deal to exchange for Rocky's plea with six months in prison, probation and other conditions, but he always insisted that he was innocent and chose to hand his fate over to a jury.

The verdict comes as Rocky is preparing for several major plans, including the finale of the Rolling Loud Festival in Los Angeles in March and the presence of Met Gala as co-chair in May. In addition, he will be starring alongside Denzel Washington in a new film directed by Spike Lee.

The three-week trial stems from a dispute between Rocky and Terell Ephron (stage name A$AP Relli). The two were former high school friends and were also members of A$AP Mob. However, over time, their relationship gradually deteriorated. On November 6, 2021, the two met to try to resolve the dispute, but it turned into a fierce confrontation. Relli testified that Rocky pulled out his gun and fired at him, but Rocky's defense team insisted that he had a prop gun with an empty bag of bullets at the time, and A$AP Relli also knew the gun was not a real gun.

A$AP Rocky chose not to testify in court, and at the closing statement, Rihanna and their two children sat in the auditorium, expressing support throughout the whole process.
