adidas officially announces clearing of all YEEZY inventory

adidas finally bid farewell to YEEZY completely, successfully cleared all YEEZY inventory, and announced the complete end of its partnership with Kanye West (now named Ye).

According to Reuters, adidas officially announced on Wednesday that it had completed the final stage of clearing its YEEZY shoe inventory, ending this once highly commercially valuable cooperation. The brand confirmed that the last pair of YEEZYs was sold at the end of 2024, marking adidas' new stage in the wake of this storm. The decision is particularly critical, as brands have been working to get rid of this past since adidas and Ye split in October 2022, especially after Ye's cooperation came to an abrupt end due to anti-Semitism, which has accelerated the process.

“Now, we have sold the last pair of YEEZYs,” adidas Chief Financial Officer Harm Ohlmeyer told the media at a recent financial report meeting. However, the impact of YEEZY's termination of cooperation still exists, especially in the US market. Brand sales data show that North American sales fell by 2% in 2024, mainly due to the sharp decline in YEEZY sales.

Despite the challenges adidas faced after losing the YEEZY cooperation, the final clearance of these shoes still brings considerable benefits to the brand. Data shows that YEEZY sales reached 200 million euros in 2023, while the inventory left in 2022 contributed 300 million euros in operating profit to the brand. It is worth noting that adidas has previously promised to allocate 260 million euros from the proceeds of YEEZY inventory sales in 2023 and 2024 as charitable donations to support anti-anti-Semitism organizations, in an attempt to balance public perception and have a positive impact on the brand image.
