Rapper Lian Ma Swimming is coming to Taipei to perform.

From the first album “Wake Up” to the highly anticipated “Little Husband Next Door”, from the stage of the talent show “Rap Listen to Me” to the “five-person group” that has now swept the Chinese music circle, Lian Ma's name has long become a “phenomenon”, bombarding your and my ears through the Internet, community platforms and major music applications.

This time, we will start with Lianma's success and talk about his key to reaching the top, the source of creative energy, and the most recommended brands in the near future. Your success is obvious to all. Looking back at the biggest “turning point” in your music career?

It should be 17 years, when I just finished my identity as a tattoo artist and lived with SASI, he pushed me to start making music systematically. In fact, I have been making music from 2012 to 2017, but after 2017, I have made more plans and made a few mixtapes. I felt very happy in the process, and then I sat until today.

Many people like Hip-hop, but only a few people succeed in reaching the top. What do you think is the “key” to your success?

From the perspective of the work, it is because the entry point of our work is very special and the expression of the song is more down-to-earth. Whether it is telling one's own experience or showing off our achievements, the expression of these contents is quite unique, and this is our highlight.

Your work is deeply rooted in people's hearts and resonates with many listeners. How do you usually decide on the topic of creation? Where does your creative energy come from?

I never define the theme of creation first, but continue it based on what the accompaniment is suitable for writing. The energy of creation comes more from life experience. The reason why we can resonate with our audience is that we are willing to share the dark and painful experiences in our works with everyone. Although we did not preset this resonance during creation and release, we are still very happy that the audience can find links with themselves.

The lyrics, mood and listening experience of “Mirror Man” are all perfect. I'm curious about the reason for the creation of this song. What message do you want to convey to yourself and your audience through this song?

When I heard the accompaniment of “Mirror Man”, I thought of a topic that I had never touched on, although I have written or suggested it to many other people. But now it's time to have a conversation with yourself.

Many people say that your music is “painful rap”, what do you think?

I think the period of writing those songs has passed. We were at that stage and had that kind of experience and feelings, so we created that kind of work and then the audience summarized it. But my status this year makes me feel that I may be able to jump out and do some other topics that I have not covered before, and I am not sure how the audience will summarize it at that time. But overall, as a creator, you should create whatever works you are in!

For you, will the ever-changing style of music be a challenge?

I have never defined the style of the music for myself. As long as I have the feeling, feeling, and insight after listening to it, I will try it according to the style of the accompaniment. We have always made music with a playful mentality, and we will do it when we hear good things.

It is not difficult to find that your style has also changed a lot in recent years. If you want to buy a jacket, which brands would you recommend?

I don’t know if anyone is using the salted fish app, but I often search for some Vintage clothes on it because they have traces of time and are very unique. I would prefer to wear them in these aspects.

As a creator who will enter the age of 30. What are your expectations for the future? Will Hip-hop be the only way?

My expectation for Hip-hop is that I hope that all practitioners can analyze themselves carefully and are willing to create works that are closer to themselves. Simply put, it is to be more yourself! Hip-hop has probably been my only road in the past 50 years hahaha. If there is any other road, it may be just to do some small business. Although it doesn’t seem to be very easy at the moment, my hot pot restaurant went bankrupt very early hahahaha.

You once said that rap brings you confidence. So what will be the most confident and proudest thing you are now?

The most proud thing now is to support a family entirely on your own. Another confidence comes from your understanding of yourself and the resonance and links between you and your audience under this understanding. So many people like it, it also makes me feel confident.

A performance in Taipei is coming soon. What else are you planning to do besides the performance?

This is my first time in Taipei to perform. In addition to performances, I also want to go to the night market. I like this kind of fireworks and want to experience it.
