Akimotosaka's “Finger Armor”: Tom Wood's new ring series

Norwegian jewelry brand Tom Wood has launched a new collaboration with Japanese fashion icon Akimotosa.

The collaboration is called “Chiyu”, inspired by a conversation between creative director Mona Jensen and Akimotosa. At that time, Akimoto put on plaster due to dislocating his fingers, and this scene deeply touched Mona Jensen. Therefore, in terms of design, the ring covers the fingers like armor, focusing on the concepts of “protection” and “banding”. Akimotosa also said: “The word Chiyu represents healing and recovery after injury. It also symbolizes regeneration and renewal, and is an improvement to old things.”

Chiyu rings are available in various widths, which can be worn layered or as a unit on the upper and lower parts of the finger.

In addition, this collaboration highlights Tom Wood's persistence in using sustainable materials. The ring is made entirely from recycled materials, with a 90% reduction in carbon footprint compared to products that traditionally use raw materials. In addition, the brand works exclusively with Responsible Jewelry Industry Council (RJC) certified manufacturers to ensure that the production process complies with the highest standards of ethics.

These rings are currently available at Tom Wood online store.
